Remembering times and events LONG forgotten. They are stored out of place and tucked neatly in the crevasses with in my mind. Only times of great importances, can they be recalled.
May of ‘98.
I remember running or fastly walking through my best friends house. In the corner of my eye I noticed an advert on the t.v., I pause and look in awe as it showcased CGI lizards, the focus of my summer was Godzilla. I for one love this movie. Fast forward a bit. My family and I are dinner at a restaurant named Tanners. I excitedly express my interest in seeing this movie. My dad makes some snide comment about “Maybe taking me…”
Imagine my suprise when we go see it the next day. Even as I type this, I begin to remember coming into the theatre as the opening credits come on. In that moment, I am right. It was a good day for the 7 year old me.
My Dad and I don’t go to movies anymore, sadly, recollecting the last movie we saw together was Spider-Man 3.
Gone are the days where I will be checked out of school to see movies. My dad may have seemed like a hardass, and most of the time, he is. Deep down he knows that, those are the memories that last.
